Frequently Asked Questions About Shipping & Delivery

Q. Can I pickup the item from your store or warehouse?
A. No. Most of these are oversize, freight shipments that come directly from remote warehouses in various parts of the USA. Distribution is not centralized in one warehouse.

Q. Is all of your furniture fully assembled?
A. For the most part, yes. The exceptions include most tables and other furniture with legs or feet. And we wouldn't want these shipped assembled as freight damage would increase exponentially! If you are getting a Gold Level delivery, most will be assembled by the delivery driver. But only if no tools are required. If you have a Platinum Level delivery, all will be assembled. Curios and Bars are fully assembled but you will place the shelf clips and shelves because you'll be setting your height preference(s) as you do this.
The other exception is Powell Furniture. This is value-priced furniture that will have varying levels of assembly required. Please call or write us for clarification.

Q. Can I get Free Expedited Freight and also get Free Set Up & Debris Removal?
A. Yes. For all Howard Miller & Ridgeway furniture, we offer Free Express 7-10 Day Freight, include Platinum Delivery with Light Setup & Debris Removal. Items under $800.00 may not unless specifically declared on the Product Page. The pull down menu may only say Gold. But if the text on the product page includes Debris Removal, you'll automatically be upgraded to Platinum.

NOTE: For all other manufacturers, there is NO EXPEDITED FREIGHT option available. In most cases, these freight items will come with non-express, 10-15 business day delivery with Inside Delivery & Debris Removal. For Pulaski products add 7-10 days processing time. For Yuan Tai and Amini/AICO add 5 days processing time. For oversize, non-UPS/FedEx shipments of Butler, Art As Antiques, and American Heritage, allow 21 business days for ground freight delivery.

Q. Can I get Free Expedited Freight and pay extra for Free Set Up & Debris Removal?
A. All Howard Miller & Ridgeway freight items like Curio Cabinets, Home Bars and Grandfather/Floor Clocks come with Free Expedited Platinum Delivery, 7-10 Day delivery to lower 48 USA. At present, only Howard Miller & Ridgeway have Expedited freight available and that's included in most free deliveries of these oversize, freight products. All Pulaski, AICO/Amini & Yuan Tai items ship with Platinum Service including debris removal, but no expedited services are available for Pulaski items.

Q. What if my shipment arrives damaged or lost?
A. Your shipment is fully insured. Please inspect the package when it arrives. If there is exterior box damage, open it immediately while the driver is there and look for damage. If you find such, refuse the shipment. If you don't have Gold or Platinum service but you see box damage, you must write a note on the Bill of Lading that the packaging was damaged in transit and you will inspect completely when the item is completely removed from its packaging and set up. DO NOT SIGN THE BOLS/WAYBILL UNLESS YOU ACCEPT THE ITEM IN ITS CURRENT CONDITION or IF YOU HAVE NOTED POSSIBLE CONCEALED DAMAGE ON THE WAYBILL. KEEP A COPY OF WHAT YOU SIGN WITH THE NOTES CLEARLY ON IT. Please advise us immediately via email or call us 9a-5:30p PT. If you have a digital camera, take a few pictures and attach them to your email to us. Send to: Whether damaged or lost, we will file the claim from here and dispatch another item to you immediately, which is usually very, very quick, especially if the driver notes damage on the BOLS or if electronic tracking shows it missing. We handle all claims issues after you have followed the steps above.

Q. Can I get a discount if I do not want Free Expedited Freight and would rather have Consolidated or Standard Ground Freight?
A. I wish we could. But we had to commit to an enormous volume to make Free Expedited Freight a reality. We are the first company that we know of that even offers Expedited Freight, let alone for Free! Everything goes Expedited, including air transport of international freight. Smaller, non-freight items ship in accordance with the service level you chose at checkout. For some items under $800.00, only Bronze, threshold delivery is available. Please call and we'll gladly clarify shipping service levels and options for you.

Q. Is VAT, customs charges, duties and taxes covered in shipping costs?
A. Generally not. But in some cases, some countries, we will pre-pay the brokerage fee to affect its release from your port authority. You will still be contacted for VAT or local duties and taxes. But sometimes you'll save $300-$500 because we prepaid your brokerage or entry fee. Again, write or call us for clarification.

Q. How much do I have to pay in my country for brokerage, duties, taxes? (Does Not Apply to USA or Protectorates)
A. We ship packages all over the world everyday. Each country is different and these charges often change with the political winds. Please ask your customs agency or postal office for information on these charges, if there are any in your country.

Q. If customs charges are too high, can I refuse to accept delivery?
A. Yes. But from your refund amounts will be deducted for actual outbound and return shipping costs plus a 25% non-delivery fee to cover custom's rejection charges as applicable. This, often times, is not a practical choice given the extreme costs of international shipping (even though our shipping charges are generally 60%-70% off of published UPS, FedEx or DHL rates).

Q. Does someone need to be present for delivery or can they just leave it?
A. Whether domestic or international, a signature is required for all oversize, freight items. For all freight deliveries, the trucking company will call you in advance to schedule an appointment for delivery. For small packages, anything over $249.99 requires a signature for proof of delivery as Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover and PayPal will not honor lost item claims unless signature is required.

Q. Is all furniture delivered inside?
A. Yes. The Bill of Landing will be marked "Inside Delivery"! (Except Powell Furniture when you choose free shipping. Powell delivers to first covered area like a porch, garage, etc. Please call to upgrade your shipping if you require inside delivery, setup and debris removal for Powell items.)
